Shelby was born an artist, creative energy was always meant to be a part of who she is. She graduated from Nashville School of the Arts in 2005 and has continued to dabble in creating over the years in many ways. Starting in 2008 she was graced with motherhood and threw herself into that stage of life and it has presented MANY opportunities to get creative with the kids and her family. While “momming” has been very rewarding, the thought of art as a career got further away. She even began to forget that she IS an artist, one that was just taking a pause to focus on her life’s three greatest creations.

At a certain point though, she could no longer recognize through blurred lines who she was outside of family. Through some soul searching in summer of 2020, she was searching for that spark again. Of course, she was drawn back to art. With some trial and error and frustration with various mediums she began to ask herself, “what materials did she love working with as a child, where did the creative roots begin?”.

1). Painting backgrounds is really fun

2). She always loved gluing tissue paper together to create different texture and color

3.) Collage with any paper

But what could she create with those ideas? She began thinking of things that make her happy, what could she draw inspiration from? Then, it dawned on her, in a well that should have been obvious sort of way. Many years ago, she stumbled upon antique micro mosaic brooches on Etsy and Pinterest. These are exquisite little pieces that she fell in love with…enough to get a tattoo inspired by them in 2015! The shapes, colors and textures provide a seemingly endless well of inspiration and joy. So, for the last couple of years her work has provided an outlet for expression and has reawakened her creative spirit.

She looks forward to sharing her work as a professional artist and to inspire others to find their spark again too.
